Your story could become a part of the new Twin Ports Stories mobile story collection to be showcased at the Duluth Superior Film Fesitval in June 2018!
Full-day session on
Sat. May 5 10 am – 3 pm plus
optional work time with help, 3 – 5 pm
$30 workshop fee – for adults 18 & up
$15 for students – 18 & up OR for morning-only, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Make a Mobile Story Workshop
In this workshop you’ll be guided to make your own mobile story or poem using the free Aris authoring tool.
You can choose how your reader will access your pages or scenes. Opt to have your reader or viewer:
- walk or drive to a new location (uses GPS), like a tour
You have the option to create a branching story that lets the reader choose which part of the story to engage with next.
- scan a QR code
- scan a photo or graphic
- click a marker on an online map
- or just click Continue!
Besides text, you can easily add any of these features:
- photos
- videos
- music
- spoken words
All workshops will be held at:
Marshall School Computer Lab, 1215 Rice Lake Road, Duluth, MN
Work with your own text and images, or use sample contents provided by the instructor if you prefer to learn the tech first and create your own story from home.
In the half-day workshop 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.:
* Experience some working stories
* Hands on: text, images, and screen-to-screen flow in the Aris authoring tool
* Tailoring your story idea to the mobile medium
* Hands on: adding a conversation or role-play interaction to your story
* Tech tips for completing your particular story at home
In the full day workshop:
* Planning and storyboarding your story
* Experience some working stories

* Tailoring your story idea to the mobile medium
* Hands on: adding a conversation or role-play interaction to your story
* Tech tips for completing your particular story at home
* Hands on: adding an image trigger to your story for enhanced augmented reality (optional)
* From 3 – 5 p.m. is optional time for you to continue working on your story with story and technical help from your instructor.
Showcase your work at a final public gathering at the Duluth Superior Film Festival June 1-2, 2018. If you choose, you can add your story to the new a collection of Twin Ports Storiesfor mobile devices.

About the Instructor:
Lisa Larson used Aris Editor to develop new learning game modules with augmented reality for the Minnesota Historical Society for a project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Lisa holds a Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology and Media and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. She has designed and led over 80 workshops.
